The unified programme of study will be delivered by Te Pūkenga Institutes of Technology or Polytechnics that currently offer these qualifications from Semester 2 of 2023 or Semester 1 of 2024, subject to approval and accreditation.

We want to ensure the unified programmes of study will work for all our current and future ākonga, partners and communities. Therefore, during this socialisation phase, we are inviting you as network kaiako to provide feedback on the draft programmes. This gives you an early opportunity to view the draft programmes and consider how well they align with your current programmes.

Please note that wider engagement with ākonga, kaimahi, industry and community partners will happen later, once we have responded to your feedback on these draft programmes.

Update regarding other Primary Industries programmes

Te Pūkenga network partners (institutes of technology and polytechnics) have selected one of the current existing programmes of study (not including programmes of industry training at this time) to become the unified programme of study for each of the following qualifications:

  • 2680 New Zealand Certificate in Organic Primary Production (Level 3)
  • 2681 New Zealand Certificate in Organic Primary Production (Level 4)
  • 2684 New Zealand Certificate in Land Based Sustainability Practices (Level 3)
  • 2443 New Zealand Certificate in Pest Operations (Level 3) with strands in Rural Pest Control, Rural Pest Monitoring

Unified programmes mean that there will be one programme of study aligned with each qualification, that works for learners in all regions. The unified programmes are high-level, broad and flexible programmes that allows each region the ability to tailor the programme delivery to meet their community needs.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during the recent consultation process for the unified programmes.

We have now closed consultation and are making programme updates in response to the feedback.  We will then work through the final stages of approval and accreditation.
